Edward Grinnan

Edward Grinnan joined the staff of Guideposts in 1986, and was named Editor-in-Chief in 1999. Mr. Grinnan graduated from the University of Michigan, where he majored in English and Journalism, and was awarded the Hopwood Award in Playwriting. After graduation, Mr. Grinnan explored a number of career paths—including newspaper correspondent and artist-in-residence and sailor—before returning to academia to obtain a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of Drama at Yale University.

He has written and edited scores of Guideposts stories for personalities as diverse as Nolan Ryan, Reba McEntire and Charles Osgood, and is a regular contributor to “Daily Guideposts,” the organization’s best-selling annual book of inspirational reflections. Mr. Grinnan’s work has also appeared in Condé Nast Traveler, TV Guide and Seventeen, where he co-wrote a pet column with his late cocker spaniel, Rudy. He appears frequently on TV discussing faith and spirituality in America and writes a popular blog for Guideposts.com as well as another for the Washington Post. He is currently finishing a book on Personal Change, both his and others.

Mr. Grinnan is married to actress and singer Julee Cruise (“Twin Peaks,” the B-52s), and divides his time between Manhattan and the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts.
