Rick Hamlin

Rick Hamlin joined Guideposts in 1984, bringing with him a diverse background of editorial, entertainment and publishing expertise. As the magazine’s managing editor, Mr. Hamlin is responsible for ensuring the quality of the content in each issue of Guideposts, while he also oversees the printing and production of the magazine.

An accomplished author, Mr. Hamlin has published a history of the Rose Bowl and Rose Parade, “The Tournament of Roses” (McGraw-Hill); a spiritual memoir, "Finding God on the A Train" (HarperCollins) — also a "Book of the Month Club" alternate selection; and most recently a novel, "Mixed Blessings" (Bethany House).

Mr. Hamlin is also an accomplished actor and singer, who has worked in children’s theater, off-Broadway, summer stock, and in venues as diverse as Carnegie Hall and New York’s cabaret, “Don’t Tell Mama.” As the lead tenor, Mr. Hamlin recorded Fred Rich’s Hudson Oratorio for Albany Records.

Graduated cum laude graduate from Princeton University, where he majored in English Literature, Mr. Hamlin authored a thesis detailing the influence of John Ruskin on the pre-Raphaelite painters. After two years abroad in Florence, Italy, he also studied at the Manhattan School of Music.

Mr. Hamlin and his wife, novelist and writer Carol Wallace, live in upper Manhattan with their two sons.
